About BCA
 Welcome from the Principal

I first glimpsed BCA in December 2010. Despite the wintry weather I was completely bowled over by what I saw. At a time when many colleges and schools are making do with cramped accommodation on small campuses, BCA is clearly something very special. Not only is it set in a beautiful 400-acre estate, but the accommodation is simply breathtaking. With its remarkable combination of brand new high-tech teaching areas sympathetically placed among stunning listed buildings, BCA is undoubtedly the most picturesque and safe college you will find anywhere.

I soon discovered that BCA also has a wonderfully committed team of staff who always want the best for their students. As a prospective student thinking about your next step (at 16) I’m sure that once you too have visited BCA you will want to come here just as much as I did.

Our students come from all over the South East and London areas, so we have a truly diverse and thriving student culture supported by a wide range of social events throughout the year. Given the wide catchment area we serve and the distinctive nature of some of our courses, it is not unusual for students to come here initially not knowing anyone. It’s a joy to see how they quickly find their feet and establish new friends and interests very quickly.  To help with the transition from school to college, we have our own student Face book page. Here, our students begin to establish new friendships before they’ve even started.

Throughout your time at BCA we will push you hard to succeed, providing regular feedback to your family about your progress. College works best when the teachers, student and family are all well informed and pulling in the same direction. The support framework we create is one of the key reasons why our students achieve at a better rate than their GCSE results would predict.

“Value added data show that most students on advanced courses attain grades at levels higher than those predicted from their prior attainment.” – Ofsted 2011

At BCA, we continually strive to improve. For 2012 we’re introducing some new ideas which will really benefit all students, particularly those at L2 and those who want an affordable alternative to the high cost of a university education. We are launching new courses for September 2012, which I hope you’ll be interested in, and don’t forget that we’ll do all we can to make sure you can get to us easily and affordably.

If you represent a school or a group of people, please do get in touch. (We would be happy to come to you or arrange transport for your group to come and see us.)

Thank you for taking the time to visit the college website. I hope you find it interesting and I look forward to meeting you soon at one of our events this year.
