
Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching and Performance
This course is aimed at coaches and prospective coaches, is generic for all sports and looks to build towards the
Government’s Agenda for Sport, producing competent coaches who have the academic background and practical
ability to coach at a variety of levels.
The programme provides a model of vocational higher education based on the close collaboration between
employers and BCA. Teaching will be organised in modules and delivery will be through various techniques, including:
Programme Content
During both years of the programme, learners will be required to carry out coaching sessions in the sport of their choice, providing justification for their sessions, showing progression, considering future aims and requirements, as well as self-evaluation. Modules will include:

In following this programme, learners will develop a number of transferable skills such as:

Use of information technology (IT)
Entry Requirements
1 A Level pass or 2 AS Level passes, plus GCSE Grades C or above to include English, Maths and Science or 1 National Diploma pass in a relevant subject.
Appropriate verbal and written communication skills, experience in report writing
and satisfactory IT and Numeracy skills.
We welcome applications from mature learners who may not hold standard qualifications.
Progression
This programme will provide learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding to progress in their chosen career. Successful completion of the programme may enable access to further qualifications such as an honours degree.
