NPTC LogoBCA offers a range of courses aimed at those working in the Landbased sector of industry. Our courses are designed to give employers and employees the opportunity to expand their skills and gain qualifications that will enable them to meet statutory standards and develop skills.

To support this training and any existing expertise in the workplace, BCA offers a range of assessments in NPTC City and Guilds certificates of competence.

Cancellation and postponement of bookings by candidates will result in charges as per the scale shown below:

Safe Use of Tractor Mounted Sprayers*

This is a three day course consisting of two days of tuition and one day’s assessment. The course covers the use of tractor mounted hydraulic nozzle sprayers, covering legislation, interpreting product information, personal safety, storage and disposal of pesticides, environmental protection and record keeping.

The two days’ tuition is followed by an assessment day where candidates will undertake the PA1 foundation unit which covers the legislation through the approved code of practice and the PA2 unit which assesses their practical skills.

Safe Use of Pesticides - Knapsack Sprayers*

This is a three day course consisting of two days’ of tuition and one day’s assessment. The course covers the use of a knapsack sprayer looking at the legislation, interpreting product information, personal safety, storage and disposal of pesticides, environmental protecting and record keeping.

The two days’ tuition is followed by an assessment day where candidates will undertake the PA1 foundation unit which covers the legislation through the approved code of practice and the PA6 unit which assesses their practical skills.

Tractor Operations

A three day course designed to train participants in the safe use of tractors. The training covers pre-start and safety requirements, operation, recognition of all controls, interpretation of instruments, trailer hitching, three point linkages and the use of PTO (power take off) equipment.

Transportation of Livestock

Do you know there are new regulations and qualifications for transporting animals by road?

BCA offers assessment of the NPTC Level 2 Award in the Transportation of Animals by Road (Short Journeys)  This qualification is aimed specifically at people transporting animals over 65Km and up to eight hours in duration, where the journey is in connection with an economic activity. This qualification consists of one compulsory knowledge based unit and is assessed either by a computer based multiple choice test or on a one-to-one basis. The assessment schedules are located on the NPTC website www.nptc.org.uk

Ride on Mowers

Chainsaws

It will cover crosscutting and stacking of timber on the ground. When training is completed candidates will have the opportunity to book onto the NPTC Prepare & Maintain the Chainsaw assessment.
