This course will give you the skills required by fashion designers including design for a broad range of garments, fashion illustration techniques, trend prediction, pattern cutting, textile design and manufacture skills. You will look at the historical development of fashion and how fashion relates to the business world.
An experimental approach to a wide range of design problems is encouraged. Work is project based, starting with research and design development leading towards final design solutions. As the work progresses, it becomes more applied and you will be expected to rely more on your own initiative. You will work with skilled and experienced designers who have a long history of success in placing students both in higher education and industry. Coursework is assessed continuously and the final major project will be assessed by exhibition.
