    About the Course

    The Higher Diploma in Professional Floristry is a nationally recognised floristry qualification aimed at ambitious and experienced florists who want to progress. Delivered on one day a week during term time, it further develops your floristry techniques and introduces business management, helping to enhance career prospects or provide the confidence to run your own floristry business.

    Teaching and Assessment

    In addition to expert tuition from a highly qualified and experienced team, this uniquely flexible course allows tutors and students to take advantage of industry-related activities, competition work, field visits and external study opportunities.

    Students are assessed by means of a theory-based exam, a practical-based exam and a portfolio.

    Course Content

    • Botanical concepts and practices for floristry
    • Historical studies for floristry
    • Business practices for florists, marketing and promotion
    • Technical floristry skills including tied designs, wired designs, glued designs, working within a medium
    • Design concepts for floristry
    • Floral event practices

    Progression Opportunities

    Achievement of the Level 4 Diploma grants eligibility for the Level 5 Master Diploma in Professional Floristry.

    Successful students may also be interested in taking a Business Management course at BCA to help you run your own floristry business.

    The Level 4 Diploma in Floristry will also aid progression into the following careers:

    Course fees and costs

    Fees due for payment on enrolment are:

    • £2,200 (includes all exam costs and registration fees)
    • Facilities fee: currently £45 per year of study

    Entry Requirements

    Applicants are required to be working in the floristry industry and possess at least one of the following: Level 3 Floristry qualification or equivalent relevant prior learning/experience in an appropriate professional environment or an appropriate range of industry-standard skills. All applicants will be independently assessed by means portfolio and/or a practical demonstration.
