Level 2 ABC Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair / Level 2 City & Guilds Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair

About The Course

The Level 2 Motor Vehicle programme aims to establish the skills and knowledge expected of a person starting in the industry as a mechanic. The course covers servicing, inspection and repair of light vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.

There are two routes within the Level 2 course. These are awarded by ABC and City & Guilds and are assessed differently, offering different progression routes.

Entry Requirements

Students must demonstrate a clear interest in vehicles and mechanical things. They must complete an interview, which includes a mechanical aptitude assessment or hold a Level 1 Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance at a Pass grade. Applicants must also hold GCSE English and maths qualifications at grade 3 or above.

More information

This course prepares students to start working in the industry or for progression onto the City & Guilds Level 3 qualification (having successfully completed a Level 2 City & Guilds programme).

By the end of this course you should be able to inspect, service and carry out remove and re-fit repairs on modern petrol and diesel-powered cars and light vans.
