
Entry Level 3 City & Guilds Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance Systems
About The Course
The Entry Level 3 course is an introduction to motor vehicle. It gives time and plenty of support to develop the practical skills and essential knowledge for the first step into the industry.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course but applicants must demonstrate an interest in cars, complete an interview, which includes a mechanical aptitude assessment and hold GCSE English and maths qualifications at grades 1 – 3.

Progression on to a Level 1 ABC or City & Guilds motor vehicle qualification, or a motor vehicle apprenticeship.
Modules cover the maintenance and inspection of the mechanical and electrical vehicle systems. This is a predominantly practical course, with most time spent in our fully equipped workshop working on a range of modern cars. There is also an element of classroom-based learning, to build the knowledge you will be putting into practice in the workshop.
Alongside the above study programme, GCSE maths and English Language is timetabled for three days a week.
You will require PPE for practical lessons, they are:
- Steel toe capped safety boots
- Overalls
- Safety glasses
You will also require a pen for your practical and theory lessons at all times.
A locker will be provided to all students which will incur a fee with a non-refundable deposit.
You will leave this course with a City & Guilds Entry Level 3 Diploma and the basic skills and knowledge to progress to a Level 1 Motor Vehicle course.
The Entry Level 3 Diploma is assessed through worksheets and practical tasks that build a portfolio of evidence. This course has no motor vehicle exams and is purely portfolio based.
There is no industry experience (work placement) as part of this course.
