This is the 3-day course including assessment) designed for experienced operators and guides you through safe work positioning and safe cutting/rigging of horizontal and vertical sections; you will also be discussing peak loads in the system and how these can be minimised.

Course information

It covers risk assessment, emergency planning, legislation, industry best practice, tree condition and working at height assessment and tree rigging.

3 Days

One to one practical assessment with oral questioning by an NPTC City & Guilds approved assessor.

This qualification will support progression into employment where using aerial rigging is part of the role. Safe operational skills are key to efficient use, good working practice and preventing accidents, leading to business benefits in terms of less machinery damage and down time.

Level 3

Please bring photo ID (passport, driving licence). Please ensure that you bring the following with you for this course:
Rigging gear with LOLER certificate-

One top-handled chainsaw in good working order. Complete with owner’s manual and chainsaw lanyard.

Two round chainsaw files as appropriate to chain type.

An appropriate file holder (for above files).

One 6′ flat file – smooth cut with rounded edges.

File handles for the above files.

Combi-spanner / screwdriver.

Depth gauge filing guide with bar scraper (or separate bar scraper).

Grease gun for guide bar as applicable.

A combination fuel/oil can, with fuel and oil sufficient for the course.

Climbing equipment for twin line working together with LOLER certificate- (eg: harness, climbing rope x 2, adjustable lanyard, min 4 Prusik loops, 4 karabiners, spikes, flipline)

All equipment should be CE certified and no hand tied prusiks please.

-NOTE: LOLER certificates or proof of purchase for equipment under 6 months old, must be shown to both the trainer and the assessor therefore please make these available on the relevant days.

Please ensure that you bring the following with you for this course:
Protective helmet with chin strap, ear and eye protection.

Chainsaw trousers: Type C with all round leg and groin protection.

Chainsaw protective boots (not Wellingtons)

Wet weather clothing (if needed).

One personal first aid kit (see FISA 802).

Whistle.
