Production Arts

Theatre and the Performing Arts is currently worth in the region of £70 billion to the UK economy and our study programmes reflect the fantastic opportunities available in the production arts industry and beyond.

Our Production Arts students work alongside our Performing Arts students providing backstage support which includes set and costume design, set construction, costume construction, prop making and stage management.

Our staff are passionate about creativity and are always encouraging their students to develop their skills and knowledge of the production arts sector. We engage with local employers and groups to provide live projects for our students to work on as well as providing fantastic industry links.

Production Arts is a very practical course which would particularly suit those students who enjoy making things and have a flair for art and creativity.

  • Level 2 Production Arts

    About the course

    This is a highly practical study programme, where students learn through engagement in practical projects that support performance productions such as plays, musicals and showcase events.

    Progression

    Progression from Level 2 to Level 3 depending on grades achieved, attendance and English and maths grades, where applicable. You will also be well placed to find a job in the industry which requires ‘hands-on’ practical skills.

    GCSE/Functional Skills

    All full-time students, aged between 16-18, will study GCSE or Functional Skills in Maths and English, if they don’t already hold an A*- C level GCSE in the subject. This is an integral part of their vocational study programme at BCA. Students over 19 are also encouraged to refresh and accredit their skills alongside vocational study.

    *There are also options for learners to study a 1 year 60 credit subsidiary diploma or 90 credit diploma qualification.
