FORMER BCA STUDENT MAKES TV DEBUT

News overview

Congratulations to Jude Powell, a former BCA Level 3 Creative Media student, who has recently acted in his first TV show.

A deaf and non-verbal actor, Jude plays the character Jake Green in the third series of The Chelsea Detective, featuring alongside Gavin & Stacey star Adrian Scarborough and Irish actress Vanessa Emme.

He studied at BCA between 2020-2023, which is when he got in touch with his now-agent Jo Southwell.

“Whilst at BCA, Jude had the opportunity to pitch a documentary idea to me. As a deaf, non-verbal filmmaker, Jude worked with a BSL speaker to pitch his ideas. I was immediately taken by Jude’s storytelling, his perspective and his ambition for exploring on screen inclusion in the Film and TV industry.

BCA introduced Jude to industry professionals that were able to support his ambition once he graduated from college. I was delighted to offer Jude representation as an actor/ filmmaker at Aston Management. He has a very exciting future.”

Simon Polley, Assistant Principal for Creative, Technical & Curriculum CPD, said:

“Jude was an exceptional student, highly ambitious and someone whom we learnt a lot from too! He produced a very high standard of work and we’re thrilled that he has made such an impactful start to his career!”

He recently spoke to the Maidenhead Advertiser – read their article here.

Well done Jude, we’re excited to see where your future projects take you!
