STAND OUT FOR AUTISM SENSORY BUS PROVING A BIG HIT AT BCA

News overview

We are delighted to share the success of the Stand Out for Autism Sensory Bus, which has been a welcome addition to our campus since the start of the academic year. Visiting every Wednesday, the bus has quickly become a favourite space for both students and staff.

Stand Out for Autism is a dedicated local charity based in Maidenhead that raises awareness, provides practical support, and builds a sense of community for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. Their mission is to ensure that every person feels understood, included, and valued.

The Sensory Bus is a mobile sensory environment designed to support children and young people with autism and special educational needs (SEN). Inside, it offers a safe and calming space where visitors can relax, regulate, and engage in a range of sensory experiences.

Equipped with soft lighting, tactile panels, infinity panel, fibre optic cascade lighting, interactive touch light sound panel and soothing sounds, the Sensory Bus delivers the same therapeutic benefits as a permanent sensory room – but with the flexibility to reach pupils wherever they are.

The service is now being offered to local schools, nurseries, and colleges across Berkshire, with bookings available for regular sessions or special events. For further details about the Sensory Bus, including information on how your organisation can help the project, please contact Stand Out For Autism at standoutforautism@outlook.com or visit www.standoutforautism.co.uk.

The bus will be on-site and open at Saturday’s Open Day – make sure you take time to visit and have a look at the facilities!
