Students will have guided learning on differentiated levels from Entry 1 – To level 1.
Course information
The course will be organised around simple, easy-to-follow sewing projects, linked to seasonal festivals where possible (Halloween, Christmas, St Valentine’s day, Easter etc), through which students will learn running, long, cross and blanket stitches. Examples include bookmarks, keyrings, hanging decorations, tote bags, pre-printed tapestry kits, and a decorative cushion as our final project to showcase the different stitches we have mastered. We will use high contrast, easy-to-use fabrics like felt and hessian, textured wools and threads for a sensory experience, patterns with large markings, and adaptive sewing tools such as special grip pins and scissors, extra large tapestry needles, needle threaders and magnification tools.
