The PA6A qualification is designed for individuals who need to apply pesticides using handheld applicators, such as pedestrian sprayers and similar equipment. This certification is ideal for professionals working in grounds maintenance, landscaping, amenity horticulture, and related industries where safe and effective pesticide application is essential.
The PA6A course consists of:
1 full day of practical and theory-based training
Assessment on one of the following two days
This structure ensures candidates are fully prepared and confident before undertaking their practical assessment.
During the training day, you will cover:
Legislation and safety regulations relating to pesticide application and handheld equipment use
Environmental considerations, including factors affecting mixing and application
Understanding product information, labels, and safe handling procedures
How to prepare and calibrate a handheld pedestrian applicator
Safe and effective operation of application equipment
Essential post-operational procedures, including cleaning, storage, and equipment maintenance
By completing the PA6A qualification, you will gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to apply pesticides safely, responsibly, and in full compliance with current regulations.
Entry Requirements:
Learners must hold the NPTC 216-73 (PA1) Level 2 Award in the Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides (or equivalent) qualification prior to enrolment.
