This qualification covers the safe and effective directional felling of trees using a chainsaw. The felling techniques applied will be appropriate to the tree’s size, weight, condition, and species, while also taking into account guide bar length, site constraints, and prevailing weather conditions.
The scope includes both coniferous and broadleaved species, as well as trees that are upright, forward-leaning, or weighted against the intended direction of felling.
This standard is intended for individuals who carry out tree felling operations using a chainsaw. Where associated tasks involve the use of chemicals or additional machinery, operators must hold the relevant training and certification in accordance with current legislation.
