Working Livery

We offer 4-day and 5-day working livery packages where your horse is looked after 7 days a week. This includes hay/haylage, basic balancer hard feed, and bedding (prices vary). During term time, horses are brought in daily for care and a varied workload – maximum two sessions per day – of flatwork, jump, hack, or lunging/long-reining in staff supervised student sessions. They are turned out overnight for maximum rest and live out on weekends (unless a medical requirement is present).

If you would like further details then please do not hesitate to contact the Yard Manager; Fran Heather on the details below.

Working Livery FAQs

5 days on straw is £65 per week, and shavings is £70 per week.

4 day – The horse gets a day off during the week – if competing or doing a lot riding at the weekends this could work better for you and your horse. Straw is £80 per week, and shavings are £85 per week.

For routine care, we have weekly vet visits and regular visits from saddlers and farriers. While optional, we are happy to use our connections to organise all appointments for your horse and keep you completely updated. As the owner you are responsible for these costs.

During term time, you are welcome to use our facilities daily after 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. You will always have access to our excellent hacking routes. Please note that the indoor arena is hired out to a dog club for two evenings per week, making it unavailable during those times. Our cross-country course is open seasonally, typically for a few weeks after our annual British Eventing (BE) horse trials.

Over the college holidays, our horses enjoy a relaxing break. They will live out 24/7 but still receive their full feed and care catered to them in the field. We will bring a select few horses in daily for any necessary exercise or enrichment. To make the most of this time, owners are welcome to visit more frequently during the holidays, with access available between 8:00 AM and 7:30 PM.

Our standard is for horses to live out overnight year-round. However, during the thick of winter, we may make exceptions to this routine, bringing them in overnight either for their welfare during adverse weather or to allow the grazing and fields to rest ahead of the weekend.

Owners are welcome to visit on weekdays from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, and on weekends from 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Please note that we hire our facilities for weekend shows. We’ll keep you updated on which schools are in use; there is usually always one free. For the very rare, large events where all three schools are booked, we will make sure owners are aware well in advance.

Our students range in skill from Stage 1-2 to Stage 3. All riders must first demonstrate competence at walk, trot, and canter in an assessment before joining the course.

Owners can take their horses off-site for competition or training. We require strict adherence to biosecurity guidelines. A short isolation period may be necessary upon return, depending on the travel location and duration.
