This course is an ideal introduction to farm work for school leavers. The learners will develop practical skills in livestock handling and gain underpinning knowledge of agriculture-related topics. Learners will work with a range of livestock and arable crops on the BCA site.
Level 1 Land-based Diploma in Agriculture
The interview is a face to face conversation where the tutors will ask you questions about your previous time in education, your thoughts on career pathways and why you are interested in the course.
They will want to get to know about your interests and passions and previous experience in the subject. All students need to be physically able and be willing to take part in all aspects of practical work.
A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning support needs.
You will be required to attend an interview, where your suitability, commitment and skills will be assessed.
Have a think about what jobs you would like to complete after college. Bring evidence of any industry placements already completed or any skills that may be useful on the course.
At the interview, we will require evidence of your interest and passion for working and developing a career working within the industry.
Predicted grades are needed to help gauge which course would be best for you.
Your interview will be face to face.
There are PPE requirements (steel toe cap boots, wellington boots, overalls, polo shirt, waterproofs) for the course.
We will go on farm visits and to agricultural shows.

Level 2 Diploma in Agriculture
This course provides an excellent opportunity to access the agriculture industry and/or progress through to further courses in their chosen field. Learners are able to develop practical skills in crop and livestock husbandry and gain underpinning knowledge of agricultural-related topics. Learners will work with a range of livestock animals inclusive of cattle, sheep and pigs housed at BCA.

Level 3 T-Level in Agriculture – Livestock Production
During the 2-year programme, learners will learn the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of agriculture, land management and production occupations. We will be offering the Livestock Production specialist content, which includes the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to work with Cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry.
