Students will study health and safety and maintaining the health of horses as part of the course alongside practical horse care and stable management. Students will need to pass a riding assessment – video evidence will also be required – they will need to be able to walk, trot & canter confidently in a group, as well as they need to be able to sit in a balanced position for walk, trot & canter. They must also be able to steer in all 3 positions and meet the weight limit to be considered for this course.
Please Note that students also need to be studying GCSE Maths & English if they are looking to progress onto Post 16 Level 2.

Course information
This course is delivered on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Students have yard sessions, ride sessions and theory sessions,
Assignment tasks, 2 multiple choice exams (1 each year of the course), practical assessments.
L1 C&G Certificate (year1) Diploma (2 years) in Land based – Horse Care.
Post 16 Equine courses.
Due to the nature of the course there is an additional termly charge of £75. Year 2 has a mandatory Work Placement element.
