About The Course
This course is a basic introductory programme to the Sport and Uniformed Protective Services industries. It will involve a mixture of practical and theory modules and is assessed via a range of methods including projects, practical demonstrations, and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities, and demands. You will develop a broad foundation of practical skills, knowledge and interpersonal skills that will help you progress in either of these areas and which are required to pursue a career in this industry. You will be encouraged to gain an understanding of a range of different uniformed public services and develop key skills such as teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Uniform and PPE: All Protective Service students will be required to purchase the compulsory BCA kit, which is appropriate to their programme. We try to keep all compulsory kit bundles to a minimum cost and then give the option for you to purchase additional items. Clean, practical kit must be brought in every day.
You can place your kit order online and select the Protective Services option. You will have to register and create an account before ordering. Please refer to the size guide and ensure that the sizes you order are correct. Once the kit has been personalised with the BCA logo, refunds/exchanges will not be permitted.
Returning students are very welcome to order another complete bundle, however, you will already have some kit from last year, so you may decide just to order a few additional items. Please email Nicky Cornelius, Curriculum Assistant firstname.lastname@example.org for the specific link to order individual items.
Stationary: All students will be required to bring appropriate stationery and a notebook to all lessons. We advise students to purchase a ring binder folder to keep class notes and resources in, for future reference. BCA do not supply pens, pencils, rulers or notepads. All students will be required to bring their own set of headphones for blended learning sessions. The headphones do not need to be expensive but must be P.C. compatible.
Level 1 Certificate in Sport and a Level 1 Certificate in Protective Services.
Protective Service students may have the opportunity to complete additional qualifications as part of their study programme. The training for these qualifications will form part of the course syllabus, however, the actual exam will be optional and will incur an additional cost. We will notify you of any details relating to these courses as and when necessary.
This course is fully internally assessed. You will learn through a variety of theory and practical sessions and be assessed via a range of methods including:
- Written reports
- Practical observations
A variety of work experience opportunities including stewarding at public events, overnight visits with the Army, public charity events or emergency service role plays. Students will also attend guest lectures from a variety of industry professionals and Protective Services personnel.
