Land-based Engineering Interview Process

Level 2 Technical Qualification in Land-based Engineering

Our Level 2 Technical Certificate in Land-Based Engineering is for anyone who is looking to start a career within the land-based engineering sector. Modern land-based engineering is not just about building larger and more powerful tractors and farm machinery. The skills required include robotics, computer-based imaging, GPS technology, science-based solutions, climate forecasting, technological solutions, environmental controls and much more.

The interview is a face to face conversation where the tutors will ask you questions about your previous time in education, your thoughts on career pathways and why you are interested in the course. They will want to get to know about your interests and passions and previous experience in the subject. All students need to be physically able and be willing to take part in all aspects of practical work. A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning support needs.

You will be required to attend an interview, where your suitability, commitment and skills will be assessed. Have a think about what jobs you would like to complete after college. Bring evidence of any industry placements already completed or any skills that may be useful on the course. At the interview, we will require evidence of your interest and passion for working and developing a career working within the industry. Predicted grades are needed to help gauge which course would be best for you.

Your interview will be face to face.

There are PPE requirements (steel toe cap boots, wellington boots, overalls, polo shirt, waterproofs) for the course. We will go on farm visits and to agricultural shows.

If you wish to make any amendments to your interview, please log back into your Student Portal, and choose ‘rearrange’ and select and alternative date and time.
