Performing Arts Interview Process

All Levels

Our study programme covers a wide range of performance opportunities and genres. Projects include: Singing, Dancing, Acting, Musical Theatre, Physical Theatre and participation in National Competitions and events.

You will need to prepare a song and a one minute dance solo or one minute monologue. This is to assess your potential and showcase your strengths. You will then take part in a 15 minute interview. In the interview you will be asked questions about your experience to date and why you are interested in the subject. We may review any video work you have of school/college, professional or AmDram performances. A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning support needs.

You are asked to bring any images, videos, certificates of performance experience or performing arts training you have completed (on your phone is ok). If you are new to Performing Arts, we will ask you about your interest in the subject and to talk about any theatre or live performances you have seen. If you have an EHCP, you will also be met by the ALS (Additional Learning Support) Team to assess your needs.

Your interview will be in person at BCA.

Learners will pay a  ‘Trips and Visits Fee’ each year, to cover costs towards three theatre or career-related trips. You will be required to wear all-black, loose and comfortable clothing for practical lessons and some performances. Jazz and character shoes are required. Other equipment is listed on our main subject page via the College website.

If you wish to make any amendments to your interview, please log back into your Student Portal, and choose ‘rearrange’ and select and alternative date and time.
