Sport Interview Process

Level 1 Diploma in Sport

The course will provide an introduction into a wide range of areas subjects related to Sport. It will also allow learners to continue to develop their literacy and numeracy skills with GCSE retakes.

During your interview you will be asked a range of questions designed to assess your suitability for the course. You will be expected to have a good understanding of what will be involved in the course you have applied for and be able to explain your strengths and achievements. A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning support needs.

We ask that you wear smart professional attire for your interview, school uniform is acceptable. Please bring with you a copy of your most recent school report and actual/predicted grades.

Your interview will be face to face or online.

To study this course, you will be required to have smart, professional sports clothing and appropriate footwear for both indoor and outdoor sports activities. Links to specific kit bundles will be available to applicants who are offered a place.

Level 2 NCFE Diploma in Sport

Our Level 2 NCFE Diploma in Sport will cover a range of sport related subjects and topics, both theory and practical. It will also allow learners to continue to develop their literacy and numeracy skills with GCSE retakes if required. Learners will also participate in a period of industry placement. If learners would like to consider joining one of our academy programmes alongside their course, please register interest for this on the academy section of the website.

Level 2 NVQ in Activity Leadership

The Level 2 NVQ in Activity Leadership is designed to equip learners with the skills and knowledge needed to enter the world of work as a sport coach. Learners will have the opportunity to gain an additional coaching qualification as part of this course, and continue to develop their literacy and numeracy skills with GCSE retakes if required. Learners will also participate in a period of industry placement. If learners would like to consider joining one of our academy programmes alongside the course, please register interest for this on the academy section of the website.

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching & Development

Our Level 3 in Sports Coaching & Development is for learners who have a passion for developing others.  They will have the opportunity to gain an additional coaching qualification as part of this course which will assist with gaining employment. Learners will also participate in a period of industry placement. If learners would like to consider joining one of our academy programmes alongside their course, please register interest for this on the academy section of the website. 

During your interview you will be asked a range of questions designed to assess your suitability for the course. You will be expected to have a good understanding of what will be involved in the course you have applied for and be able to explain your strengths and achievements. You may also be asked what your long term career aspirations are. A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning support needs.

Level 3 Extended Diploma in in Sport & Exercise Science 

Our Level 3 in Sport & Exercise Science  is ideal for anyone with a passion for the science behind sport and how it can be applied to help optimise sporting performance, help athletes overcome injuries and enhance athlete potential. Learners will also participate in a period of industry placement. If learners would like to consider joining one of our academy programmes alongside their course, please register interest for this on the academy section of the website. 

During your interview you will be asked a range of questions designed to assess your suitability for the course. You will be expected to have a good understanding of what will be involved in the course you have applied for and be able to explain your strengths and achievements. You may also be asked what your long term career aspirations are. A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning support needs.

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Personal Training

Our Level 3 in Personal Training gives learners all the qualifications you need for a career in the fitness industry. As well as a personal training qualification, learners will also have the opportunity to gain an additional qualification in circuit training. There will also be a period of industry placement. Please note applicants must be 17 when starting the course. If learners would like to consider joining one of our academy programmes alongside their course, please register interest for this on the academy section of the website. 

During your interview you will be asked a range of questions designed to assess your suitability for the course. You will be expected to have a good understanding of what will be involved in the course you have applied for and be able to explain your strengths and achievements. You will need to demonstrate an ambition to work in the fitness industry. A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning support needs.
