This week our Horticulture students and apprentices welcomed special guests Antony Henn and Edwin Coombes from Garden on a Roll, who visited the campus to share their industry experience and entrepreneurial journey.
The session gave learners a valuable opportunity to hear first-hand how the business was established, the theory that underpins their work, and the practical realities of building a successful horticulture brand. Antony and Edwin also fielded a wide range of student questions, offering insights into careers, planting design, and the wider horticulture sector.
After the talk, the group headed outdoors to take part in planting activities, working directly with a selection of Garden on a Roll products. As a result, the campus now features a vibrant, colourful border filled with new plants, many of which students have added to their plant identification lists.
Experiences like this highlight the breadth of opportunities available within horticulture and help inspire those just starting out in their careers. The engaging and informative nature of the talk left a lasting impression on our students in attendance.
A huge thank you goes to Antony and Edwin for taking the time to visit, share their expertise, and donate such a generous range of plants to help brighten the BCA campus. We look forward to welcoming them back in the future and sharing further updates, and photos, as the planting flourishes over the summer months.
