Growing Futures: April Apprenticeship Update

National Apprenticeship Week – 10.02.2026

We were proud to once again celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2026 with another highly successful event at BCA. As a key date in our annual calendar, the week brings together employers and prospective apprentices to explore the exciting opportunities available across the landbased sector.

This year’s event was one of our strongest yet, with an excellent turnout from industry partners, including: John O’Connor, Stanley Black and Decker, Jobs in Arb, North Hants Golf Club, BBC, We are Landbased, Elite Landscapes, HortWeek, Lantra, BALI , Frilford Heath Golf Club and Krinkles.

Throughout the day, students engaged in meaningful conversations about apprenticeship pathways in agriculture, horticulture, animal management, agricultural engineering and environmental industries. A particular highlight was the ever-popular tractor simulator, which added an interactive element and showcased the practical skills and technology that underpin modern landbased careers.

It was fantastic to see employers and prospective apprentices walking away having made valuable connections, reinforcing the strength of our industry partnerships and our shared commitment to developing the next generation of skilled professionals.

We would like to thank all employers who attended and contributed to the day’s success. We look forward to welcoming you back for future events and continuing to build strong partnerships. If you are an employer interested in getting involved in upcoming apprenticeship opportunities or events, please do get in touch – we would be delighted to hear from you.

BCA launch Apprenticeship Avenue

If you’ve walked through the corridor outside The Shop at BCA recently, you may have noticed a significant transformation. We are proud to officially unveil Apprenticeship Avenue – a dedicated showcase of the incredible employers and industry partners who help our students transition from the classroom to the field.

Apprenticeship Avenue displays the land-based sector’s future. From agricultural estates and land-based engineering firms to landscaping leaders, while also highlighting our employer partners that work with us at Slough and Langley College. The corridor celebrates the diverse range of companies that provide our apprentices with vital, hands-on experience.

Why It Matters

For our current students, the “Avenue” serves as daily inspiration. It highlights the tangible career paths available right at their fingertips. For our visitors and stakeholders, it stands as a testament to the strength of our industry links. We know that land-based education thrives on the relationship between theory and practice. By showcasing our partners – such as Gristwood and Toms and We are Landbased – we are reinforcing our commitment to building a skilled workforce that is ready to tackle the challenges of the modern rural economy.

Get Involved

Are you an employer looking to shape the next generation of land-based talent? We are always looking to expand our network. Next time you’re on campus, take a stroll down Apprenticeship Avenue to see the faces and brands behind our success.

Contact our apprenticeship team to find out how your company can be featured and how you can host your own apprentice.

Horticulture Apprentices Welcome Industry Workshop

We were pleased to welcome Garden on a Roll to BCA for a hands-on workshop with our horticulture apprentices and some of our full-time students.

The session gave learners valuable insight into professional landscaping techniques and industry expectations, alongside practical tips to support their development. It was a fantastic opportunity for our apprentices to learn directly from experienced professionals and strengthen the link between training and the workplace.

A big thank you to Garden on a Roll for delivering such an engaging and informative session.
