Course Overview

Arts and Culture is a significant contributor to the UK economy and the well-being and education of people. By studying a performing arts qualification, you will develop highly valued transferable skills to work in many aspects of the industry and beyond!

Our Level 3 study programmes reflect the fantastic opportunities available in the industry.

Our students learn about acting, voice, dance and movement alongside an exciting exploration of a wide range of performance styles and genres. Students participate public performances each year, where they showcase their skills in a professional theatre settings. Students work on published works as well as devising and writing their own performance material. We specialise in creating theatre anywhere and everywhere and we make full use of the whole campus, indoors and out. Y

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs or equivalent at grade 4 or above, including English, maths and ideally, dance, drama or music.

2 Years
There is also the option to study for a one-year diploma qualification.

You will learn through a combination of lectures, dance, voice and acting workshops, theory sessions, rehearsals, visiting practitioners, live community based projects, assignment work and self-guided learning.

To develop your knowledge and understanding, you will be invited to attend a minimum of 3 theatre trips each year.

You will be assessed through regular rehearsal, skills development sessions in voice, dance and acting, practical and written assignment work (essays, diaries), project work and final performances.

UAL Level 3 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts (Year 1), UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts (Year 2).

Our Level 3 students undertake 3 weeks of industry placement across the two years.

You will be well-prepared to go out into the world of work through seminar exploration and skills development sessions and to a destination suited to your individual progression.

You will also get to work on live projects with cross-college departments and external community-based clients as part of our professional development sessions. We also invite visiting speakers, industry professionals and agents to meet with you and to run specialist workshops.

Progress to higher education, stage-school, employment or apprenticeship.

Level 3

You will take part in live productions and this may involve evening and weekend rehearsal and performance time.

There is a trips and visits fee payable at enrolment, this covers the initial cost of three trips (theatre ticket and travel) to see a range of work suited to your studies.

Stationery:
You will need to supply your own personal stationery that includes: notebooks/journals, pens, pencils etc.

Uniform:
You will need comfortable, loose rehearsal wear and trainers for workshop and rehearsal days. This should include a collection of black only clothing (no brands or logos please) plus jazz shoes and character shoes.
